SLFA ISLAND CUP 2019: 8 Matches This Weekend

Matches continue at the Marchand Playing Field and the La Ressource Playing Field over the weekend in the 2019 Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc/ National Lotteries Authority Tournament.  

Today at the Marchand Playing Field, South Castries plays Laborie from 6.00 p.m. and home team Marchand takes on Vieux Fort North at 8.00 p.m.

Today the La Ressource Playing Field (Dennery) from 6.00 p.m. Mon Repos plays Desruisseaux and Gros Islet takes on Roseau Valley at 8.00 p.m.

On Sunday, at the Marchand Playing Field, from 6.00 p.m. Anse La Raye plays Babonneau and Mabouya Valley takes on La Clery at 8.00 p.m.

At the La Ressource Playing Field from 6.00 p.m. Micoud plays Laborie and South Castries takes on vs. Vieux Fort South at 8.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, in a double header at the La Ressource Playing Field on Wednesday 31st July.

La Clery defeated Vieux Fort North 2 – 0. The half time score was 1 – 0.

Jonthan Allen scored a brace for La Clery in the 22nd and 47th minute.

In the second encounter, following a goalless first half Central Castries and Dennery ended in a 1 – 1 draw.

Lael Cherry scored for Central Castries in the 62nd minute, while Junior Joseph scored for Dennery in the 73rd minute.

This match was punctuated with some drama when a black cow scurried across the field disrupting proceedings.

Despite rain putting a damper on the playing of last Sunday matches and the postponement of matches in Group 2 on Wednesday 31st July, the early front runners to date are: Group 1 – Gros Islet 6 points; Canaries 6 points. Group 2 – Dennery 7 points, La Clery and Mabouya Valley 4 points each.
