Police Motorcycle Crashes in Hot Pursuit

A POLICE Officer onboard a motorcycle collided into a police patrol car on Tuesday, August 20th. The collision occurred while the officers were in pursuit of another motor vehicle which was heading south along the John Compton Highway. The police motorcycle smashed into the rear end of the police car near the Jean Marie gas station. The police officer onboard the motorcycle was Police Constable 227 Michael Ashby who was attached to the Traffic Unit in Castries. The circumstances which gave rise to the police chase are not known at this time. The individual who was being pursued was reported to have escaped.

Ashby was reported to have sustained serious injuries during the collision. He was subsequently taken to the Tapion Hospital via ambulance where he underwent surgery. His current medical condition is reported to be so severe that he is in dire need of a blood transfusion. The Royal St Lucia Police Force is appealing to all interested persons to donate blood to the nearest hospital towards assisting Constable Ashby.
