Commissioner of Guadeloupe to the OECS Officially Appointed

Further to the Accession of Guadeloupe as Associate Member to the OECS in late March 2019, the President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe, His Excellency Ary Chalus, has appointed Commissioner Dr. Ruddy Blonbou to represent the French Territory at the OECS.Ā 

Guadeloupe officially joined the OECS as an Associate Member at the Signing Ceremony held in Basse-Terre (Guadeloupe) on March 14thĀ 2019 in presence of the Heads of Government of the OECS Member States.

The OECS Commission, whose headquartersĀ is based inĀ Castries (Saint Lucia), is the administrative organ of the Organisation. It includes the Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules, as well as the Commissioners appointed by each of the MemberĀ States of the Organisation. Commissioners have an ambassadorial role.

In the letter of accreditation addressed to the Director General of the OECS on May 22, 2019, following this accession, President of the Guadeloupe Regional Council, H. E. AryChalus appointedĀ Commissioner of Guadeloupe Dr. Ruddy Blonbou.

After completingĀ a PhD in Physics at Paris-Saclay University in 1999, Dr. Ruddy Blonbou startedĀ his professional career in England as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge and at Imperial College London.

He joined the University of the West Indies as a Senior Lecturer in 2002. He also held the position of Parliamentary CollaboratorĀ alongside the Deputy of Guadeloupe AryChalus, atĀ the French National Assembly between 2012 and 2017.

Dr. Ruddy Blonbou has been Deputy Director of Cabinet for President AryChalus since 2016. He is in charge of External Affairs (European Affairs and Cooperation).

Ruddy Blonbou now represents Guadeloupe atĀ the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. His duties as Commissioner will be added to those of Deputy Director of Cabinet for President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe.
