SAINT Lucia’s Carnival was opened in grand style on Saturday, May 25, at the SAB. Queens, costumes, and calypso and soca beats were the highlights of this much anticipated occasion, and the venue turned out to be spacious enough for all to enjoy themselves to the fullest. Performers included TC Brown, Herb Black, and Black Pearl (the Blacks), Lady Leen, Oshun and others. Carnival bands showcased in all their glory, some already featuring sold out sections months before the big event. At the event it was announced that some of the most popular carnival parties are also already sold out! If the Opening of Carnival is any indication of things to come, then we can all anticipate a carnival season like none other this year!
