Cricket: SLNCA Wheels In Motion

ON the heels of Saint Lucia’s successful hosting of the 6th edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup T20 Group Stage, the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association is gearing up to host a number of cricket events over the next four months.

The SLNCA will stroke off with the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional 4 Day Tournament hosting the day/night encounter in the first round between the Windwards Volcanoes and Guyana Jaguars at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground from Thursday 6th thru to Sunday 9th December from 2.00 p.m. daily.

According to the SLNCA press release, two Saint Lucians Audy Alexander and Tarryck Gabriel are expected to be part of the Windwards squad.

Tickets are EC$10.00 daily with children under-12 free. Tickets will be sold at the ticket centre at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

SLNCA will also be hosting the Winlott Windward Islands Under- 15 tournament from Monday 10th to Monday 17th December at the Gros Islet playing field.

Also in December the local association will be commencing its Ladies Elite Cricket Programme which will run twice a month until March 2019. The programme will feature players from the recently concluded schools Under-17 competition along with selected current national players.

In January, the SLNCA will host an Under-13 Clinic for 100 boys in the north and south of the island, as well as their annual end of year awards.

Meanwhile, in February the SLNCA will welcome England and host West Indies for the 3rd Test, March 9th – 14th; 2nd ODI, March 2nd; 1st T20, March 5th.
