The semifinals in the 2018 Commercial Basketball League took place this past weekend at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
In the first semifinal matchup, defending champions PCD/ Goddard Group defeated Saint Lucia Fire Service in a low scoring encounter, however PCD went on to secure their 4th finals of the Commercial League Tournament.
PCD has defeated Sandals, Fire Service and Financial Services in the last 3 years.
This spot was secured by the Louison brothers who combined; scored 42 of PCD’s 51 points (82%). Andre Louison had 22 points, 9 rebounds.
Troy the KFC Player of the Game had a double double of 21 points and 21 rebounds along with 4 steals and 6 assists.
The final score was 51-45.
For the Fire Service Gabriel Inglis and Jerry Charles were the lead scorers with 13 and 12 respectively.
The second game of the night was a bit more contentious and fiery when the RSLPF faced Financial Services. The squad started off the game on a good note leading financial services 23-14 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter roles were reversed and Financial Services outscored RSLPF 23-14 resulting in a halftime tied game at 37.
Third quarter was led by Financial Services led by 7 points with a 30-23 quarter. The RSLPF team was determine not to give up with just under 3 minutes left in the 4th was down by only 3 points. With a few more baskets and critical clutch free throws made by members of the Financial Services team, they now secured the 2nd spot in the finals with an 83 -73 final score.
The KFC Player of the Game was SharmoirJn Baptiste with 25 points, 6 rebounds. Rahim Auguste had 11 assists and 4 steals. Three other players had double figures Dillan Biscette, Kurt Hyacinth and Marlon Samuel; 13, 11 and 12 respectively.
Shervon Matthew led the RSLPF team with his double double of 23 points and 15 rebounds and CaliousDantes had 13 points in their loss.
RSLPF will face Fire Service for third place and Financial Services and PCD/GGSL will once again battle for 1st place.

The SLBF is deeply sorry for any inconveniences this may cause and is working with the management of the Beausejour Indoor Practice Facility and its officials to solidify a date and will inform all as soon as it is confirmed.
