Swimming: SLASA to host Inaugural Inter Commercial Championship

FOLLOWING on the heels of a number of inter commercial house sporting events such as Domino, football, basketball, netball and volleyball, the Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association, in an effort to raise the awareness of swimming in Saint Lucia, has joined the party and will host its first-ever Inter Commercial Swim Championship Series at the Rodney Height Aquatic Centre.

The championship will be conducted in a series over a mapped out three day period which will commence on Sunday 14th October with the preliminary round. Sunday 4th November will see semifinal action and the curtains will come down on Sunday 25th with the grand final at the RHAC, home of this series, where all business entities are invited to participate and compete.

According to Sue Monplaisir, SLASA Public Relations Officer, the championship will be conducted in accordance with the basic rules of swimming where necessary; some of the events will be pure fun in nature and will have specified guidelines.

Like all other championship held at the RHAC, points will be awarded for all events.

In addition to points, prizes will be given for Best Dressed Team, Loudest Cheering Team Supporters, Team with the Most Supporters and Team Spirit Award.

According to the summons all swimmers MUST be current employees of the registered Organization/NGOs/Commercial House. However, current employees will be allowed to use their son(s)/daughter(s) to serve as a representative for the Commercial House of which they are employed, ONLY if the (son(s)/daughter(s)) is/are registered by the Commercial House.
