Dennery Teachers Celebrate Week

TEACHERS are the stewards of our society and help shape every facet of our communities, our country Saint Lucia and the world at large.

Teachers are not only the Educators but adopt the purview of the caregivers, the guidance counselors, the police and medical practitioners. As major contributors to the overall workings of society; teachers have to be commended for their roles in moulding and shaping present society while adapting to the technological advancements and ever changing global society of the future.

This week is celebrated as Teachersā€™ Week under the theme: ā€œThe Right to Education means the Right to a Qualified Teacherā€.

This theme focusing on Articles 28 and 29 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child focuses on the fact that a child has a right to an education and on the quality and content of that education.

As reflective practitioners, all teachers should ponder on this theme and better position themselves to shape and make a meaningful impact on the present enrollees and satisfy the ever changing educational needs of our future enrollees of our education system.

The Dennery Branch of the Saint Lucia Teachersā€™ Union (SLTU) believes that all teachers from Dennery Primary, Dennery Infant, Clendon Mason Memorial, Richfond Combined, La Ressource Combined, Aux Lyons Combined, Deniere Riviere Combined, Grand Riviere Secondary and all the Preschools have a major role to play in the lives of our students in the district and would like to thank every teacher for doing their utmost best and going above and beyond their call of duty to shape the lives of the students in their care.

The Dennery Branch joins all teachers in celebrating this momentous occasion of Teachersā€™ Week.

Activities to commemorate Teachersā€™ Week by the DENNERY BRANCH include: a Teachersā€™ Education Conference (date to be decided), a SLTU Football Final – La Ressource Playing Field on Friday 5th October; and an Old School Party at Palm Valley (Grand RiviereDennery) on Friday 5th October.
