GIFL-Aurelien Soles U18, Blackheart Big 8 And Desruisseaux Promotional League Ready For Action

LOTS of football action this weekend at three venues, Corinth in the north, Marigot on the west and Desruisseaux on the east coast.

On the pitch, the quarter final, semifinal and finals of the Gros Islet Football League/ Aurelien Soles Under- 18 tournament will take place today at the Corinth playing field starting from 9.30 a.m.

In quarter final action, Northern United versus Reduit FC, Valley Soccer versus Pioneers FC, GMC versus Big Players FC and VSADC versus New Generation FC. Match duration 30 minutes.

For semifinal, the winner of game 1 versus the winner of Game 3, the winner of Game 2 versus the winner of Game 4. Match duration 30 minutes.

For the third place playoff, the loser of Game 5 versus loser of Game 6, while for the championship trophy, the winner of Game 5 versus the winner of Game 6. Match duration 50 minutes.

Blackheart Big 8
At the Marigot playing field, a massive crowd is expected as the Blackheart Production crew in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Football Association stage the third Big 8 zonal qualifiers.

The participating teams are – South Castries, Anse la Raye, Canaries and Roseau will vie for a spot from the Western Zone.

From 2.00 p.m. South Castries will play Anse la Raye; while Canaries takes on Roseau at 4.00 p.m.

After two rounds of qualifers the following teams have booked their spots – Vieux Fort South and Laborie (Sothern Zone) Micoud and Mabouya Valley (Eastern Zone).

This is the third zonal qualifers; with one more round of qualifers to play for the Big 8 to launch the tournament on August 25th and September 1st at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds.

After the Big 8, the playoffs will start almost immediately and will be played simultaneously; six teams will vie for the final four spots that are available for the Blackheart top 16 which is scheduled to kick off on September 15th.

Desruisseaux Promotional League
Matches in the 2018 Desruisseaux Football League/ Saint Lucia Football Association Promotional League continue tomorrow with a double header at the Desruisseaux playing field.
From 2.00 p.m. Small Axe will take on Lion Heart; while defending champions El Ninos will face Blanchard United at 4.00 p.m. at the Desruisseaux playing field. The two matches are expected to be keenly contested.

On Thursday 9th, Diamond Ballers came up against Lion Heart in a thrilling encounter.

The scoreline remained nil all at the halftime whistle despite both teams having scoring opportunities.

On the resumption, Lion Heart went ahead, the goal scored by Lance Sammy in the 75th minute, but with quite a bit of time left, Diamond Ballers came back strong in the 80th minute to score the much deserved equalizer as Nicholas Celestine found the back of the nets to share the points.

Matches in the tournament continue on Tuesday 14th, Green Monsters versus La Courvill; Wednesday 15th, Small Axe versus Blanchard United; Thursday 16th, El Ninos versus Lion Heart. All matches will kick off from 4.00 p.m.
