MR. JOSEPH Joseph, Senior Labour Official in the Department of Labour based in Vieux Fort has urgently intervened in a recognition matter between the management of Soufriere Hot Wire Rides Ltd and the National Workers Union (NWU).
Mr. Joseph’s prompt intervention is based on the NWU’s request where six (6) workers were made redundant by management following the Union’s letter requesting official recognition on behalf of the company’s employees.
Mr. Joseph has established that the company’s action was in violation of the Labour Act. All efforts will be made to bring the parties to the industrial table to have the matter successfully resolved.
