31 goals scored on opening weekend of CFC Northern Zone U-10 and U-17 tournament

THE opening weekend of the Castries Football Council (CFC) and Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Northern Zone Youth League, in collaboration Piton Malt, saw some exciting action on the pitch as youth footballers in the U-10 and U-17 age categories were on show at the La Clery and Corinth playing fields, respectively.

The highlight of the weekend — two hat tricks scored, one by TurjardStava (Massy Stores Northern United) and the other by Kevin Prince (Big Players FC) .

In the opening game of the U-10 division, VSADC Pinehill and GMC United played to a 2-2 draw.

VSADC took the early lead, thanks to a well-struck shot from JahnardModesteandthey soon doubled the lead when Armani Lesmond found the back of the nets.

However, GMC United, playing on their home ground, did not give up and in the second half were able to equalize the scores leaving the teams to settle for a point each.

In Game No. 2, Valley Soccer Club got the better of Flow Lancers FC 2-1.

Flow Lancers FC took the lead in the 10th minute courtesy of a goal from NyhimAuguste, but Valley Soccer Club fought back and were able to grab all three points, thanks to goals from Omarion Edwin and Alex Deveaux.

In the final U-10 game on Saturday, New Generation of Babonneau defeated B1 of Marchand 5-1.

Also on Saturday in U-17 action at the La Clery playing field, New Generation made a clear statement with a convincing 4-0 victory over BAYS of South Castries.

The match was never really a contest, as New Generation exhibited superior attacking play and better technical ability.

For New Generation, Glen Emmanuel scored two goals in the 25th and 29th minute, Yannick Noel in the 52nd minute and Daniel Andrew in the 75th minute.

In Game No. 2, Reduit FC gave Central Castries U-17 champions Valley Soccer Club a real scare as they showed great defensive discipline and determination.

Unfortunately, the resistance could not last the entire match and Jalen Peterkin broke the deadlock in the 49th minute.

Five minutes later, Niall Bergasse doubled the lead for VSC, then went on to score his second goal in the 60th minute to give his team all three points.

On Sunday in U-17 action played at the Corinth playing field, Massy Stores Northern United trounced Flow Lancers FC 6-0.

The goal scorers for MSNU, TurjardStava in the 15th, 20th and 28th minute, two goals by Dante Peters and a lone goal by Jeremiah Justin secured all three points for MSNU.

The final U-17 match of the weekend ended prematurely, when FC Pioneers were unable to field the minimum number of players to continue the encounter.

Big Players FC out of Marchand were ahead by 5-0 when a dispute among the FC Pioneers team left them without the required number of players to contest a match.

The goals for Big Players were scored by Kevin Prince with a hat trick and a goal each from Simeon Honora and Jn. NaieLesmond.

Meanwhile, the excitement in the CFC / SLFA Northern Zone Youth League continues on the weekend with matches at La Clery and Corinth playing fields.
