ST. MARY’S College (SMC) will take on Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) in a repeat of last year’s final in the Department of Youth Development and Sports Inter-Schools 2017 Basketball Competition at the Beausejour Indoor Practice Facility.
On Tuesday, in the first semifinal, the Seventh Day Academy took on defending champions SALCC and despite the efforts of a well-trained SDA team, SALCC came out on top with a 46-23 win.
Leading for most of the first half of this encounter, SALCC switched gear as they came out strong in the third quarter and went on a 16-0 run. Jean Pierre Frederick registered a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a winning effort.
For SDA, KervaughnDonai had 6 points 3 rebounds and 3 steals.
In the second semifinal match-up in the Under-19 division, Babonneau Secondary School played St. Mary’s College. At the end of the final whistle, SMC emerged victorious 54-11 as they dominated BSS throughout the encounter.
For the Samarians, point guard Cheir Alphonse had a game high 20 points and 5 assists.
For Babonneau Secondary, Dornel Andrew had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks.
