POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Kirk Dwight Prospere, 28, of La Clery, Castries.
On Thursday, around 1:00 p.m. officers from the Criminal Investigations Department, Gros Islet, responded to a report of a shooting at Pigeon Point, Gros Islet.
On arrival at the scene, it was discovered that Prospere was shot multiple times. He was conveyed via ambulance to Victoria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical practitioner.
A post mortem examination was scheduled for yesterday.
Investigations into the matter are continuing. This brings the number of homicides recorded for the year to 50.
Meanwhile, police have released an update on another homicide that also occurred this week.
Following a post mortem examination conducted on Wednesday on the body of Shervon Ashton, 24, of Bocage, Castries, whose body was found at Crown Lands, Bexon on Tuesday, it was revealed that Ashton died as a result of traumatic brain injury secondary to gunshot wound to the head.
Ashton’s death was the 49th homicide recorded this year.
