Bay Gardens Recognizes CYG Winners

THE Bay Gardens Resorts have rewarded Saint Lucia’s Commonwealth Youth Games heroes Julien Alfred and the ten-member football team, as well as Head Coach Felix St. Rose, with an experience at the award-winning Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa.

At a dinner reception on Wednesday evening, the athletes and coach were honoured for their achievements at the recently-held Commonwealth Youth Games.

Alfred captured gold in the 100-metres in a time of 11:56 seconds and the beach football team the gold medal after drubbing Trinidad and Tobago 6-2 in the finals.

As a company, Bay Gardens Resorts will continue to support Saint Lucian athletes who achieve great heights in their various sporting events said Executive Director of Bay Gardens Resorts, Sanovnik Destang.

“We are proud to be associated with such a talented group of individuals — both in track and field and beach football. We are indeed thrilled with the recent performances Team Saint Lucia has displayed. It was a historic moment,” said Destang.

Athletics is one of the most important of all sports for Saint Lucia,” Destang continued. “You have seen the exploits of Levern Spencer in the Rio Olympics in Brazil, finishing 6th overall in the women’s high jump. As such, it is in the spirit and fulfillment of our promise that we are rewarding these achievements to our CYG heroes.”

Destang said Bay Gardens Resorts’ gesture was an example of the organization’s keen interest in supporting and working with young Saint Lucian sportsmen and sportswomen who inspire others to achieve.

Julien Alfred received a one-night stay for a family of four while the beach footballers received day passes, which also include access to the water park. The team includes Atley Clovis, Dillon Fannis, Dylan Elliott, Hakeem Harrow, Kwame Fontenelle, Linus Clovis, Sebastien Ribot, Vino Barlett, Julian Fernest, Zane Amedee and Felix St. Rose.
