CHARGES are yet to be laid following a fatal incident that occurred on Palm Sunday in Goodlands, Castries involving a man and a woman in a common-law relationship.
Police say they are investigating the death of 39-year-old Cletus Edward, who allegedly received two stab wounds during an altercation at his home.
First responders to the scene said they received a call at approximately 12:10 p.m., requesting assistance for an individual who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, they found a man lying on his back on the floor in a pool of blood.
“Initial assessment revealed that the patient had no vital signs and sustained puncture wounds to his left bicep and the left side of his chest area,” stated a report from the Fire Department.
The report further stated that “the patient was immediately transferred to the ambulance where CPR was initiated and that an automated external defibrillator was attached and ‘no shock’ was advised.”
“CPR was continued en route to the Victoria Hospital where the patient was later pronounced dead,” ended the report.
Police said they received a report reference to a stabbing at Goodlands and that Edward allegedly received two stab wounds during a physical altercation at his residence. He was conveyed to the Victoria Hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
A post mortem is to be scheduled for today.
Meanwhile, an individual is currently in custody assisting police with investigations in this matter, which is the 20th homicide for this year.
