The team which left the island on Thursday is expected to do well, said Head Coach, Brian Charles.

Charles is expecting very good times this year, and possibly medals, having had some good workouts.

“Katie Kyle is looking strong and confident from the RAHC Invitational,” he said. “It’s just a prelude to what she will be doing at CARIFTA.”

As it relates to debutante, eleven-year-old Naima Hazell, Charles also has a high level of confidence: “She is going to do well in the 50-metres breaststroke. She is a sprinter, it’s her first year at CARIFTA and I am looking forward to seeing her get her feet wet and climb from here on.”

The full squad reads as follows: Katie Kyle, Mikaili Charlemagne, Naima Hazell, Jyasi Daniel, TerrelMonplaisir, Jamarr Archibald and JayhanOdlum-Smith, Brian Charles (Head Coach) and Sue Monplaisir (Team Manager/Chaperone).

“The seven-member team is very similar to that of last year’s. A lot of the swimmers right now are on top of their age group (13-14 years old). We’ll probably fare a lot better than we did last year, when we were at the bottom of that age group. We are looking for good things from them.”
