ON the heels of a successful hosting of the Laureate’s Chair earlier this month as part of the Nobel Laureate Festival which featured Mrs. Margot Thomas and the Governor General in attendance and scores of people in the audience, the Saint Lucia Writers Forum is hosting another public reading activity featuring author and CDF Executive Director, Mr. Melchior Henry.
Mr Henry who has roots in education having taught at the Vide Bouteille and Marchand Combined Schools and lectured at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College will be sharing from his book of poetry entitled “Dead Country”.
At the last Laureate’s Chair Mrs. Thomas advocated for the setup of an endowment in support of funding the publishing of works by budding writers. This would serve as a revolving fund which they pay back into to support others that follow.
This month’s Laureate’s Chair takes place at the Central Library tonight at 7 p.m. The public is invited to this activity which is meant to perpetually honour the achievement of Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott.
