WEATHER permitting, from 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Saint Lucia’s National Netball Team will take on the Saint Maarten National Team at Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in the first of three scheduled weekend matches.
Matches will continue at the same venue on Saturday from 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 4:00 p.m.
According to the Saint Lucia National Netball Association, the series is an important one for both teams as it will help to further determine their rankings in the Caribbean framework.
Although the players for the Saint Lucia team have not been named, the team is expected to be made up of seasoned campaigners such as Shem Maxwell, Judy Mathurin, Zalika Paul, Saphia Williams and RommelaHunte, who were part of the Saint Lucia team that participated at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014.
However, the five players might be blended with some of the promising Under-23 players who are determined to make the transition.
On the International Netball Federation (INF) list, Saint Lucia is currently ranked at No. 23 based on the latest list updated on November 24, and includes matches up to October 23. The ranking list relates to senior teams of member countries that are playing regular international test matches.
