Soufriere, St. Lucia – The previously-advertised date for fee increases at the Sulphur Springs Park and Gros Piton Nature Trail has been retracted and is set to come into effect on January 1st, 2018, replacing the January 2017 date announced by the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF).
The organization saw the need to change the date for the enactment of the fee increase in light of prevailing current economic challenges and advance contractual arrangements by many of the tour operating companies.
“In a bid to assist stakeholders in accommodating the fee increases, the Board of Directors have decided to postpone its agreed implementation date by one year with the projection that all structural developments and operations will be fully maximized at that time,” said Jimmy Haynes, Executive Director of the SRDF.
In the interim, the organization has continued with its plans to enhance visitor experience and product appeal by remaining on schedule with infrastructural and other auxiliary enhancements at both sites.
The SRDF is a non-profit company located in Soufriere and its mandate is to undertake social, cultural, human resource, tourism and infrastructure development in the Soufriere area. The organization was established in 1993 and generates revenues from its operational sites, namely the Sulphur Springs Park, Gros Piton Nature Trail, Comfort Center, Soufriere jetties and 88.5 Soufriere FM.
