SPECIAL needs children from learning centres in Saint Lucia were recently treated to a day of fun and excitement at The Prime Minister’s Official Residence.
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet was elated to spend some time with the children at the annual Christmas Party in their honour. Donning a Santa’s hat, the Prime Minister greeted the children and teachers of the various schools and also gave out gifts to his guests of honour.
“This has been an amazing experience,” said the Prime Minister. “It really does humble you as a person to see how much love and energy these children have. I must also commend the teachers and persons who dedicate themselves to caring for special needs persons. It takes very special, patient and dedicated people. I must single them out for the part they play in our society.”
The Prime Minister expressed thanks to private sector partners who helped to make the event a success.
The annual party also featured face painting, bouncing castles and music and the students got to meet up with Santa as well.
The students were from the Lady Gordon Opportunity Centre, Dunnottar School, Soufriere Special Education and Rehabilitation Centre, Vieux Fort Special Education Centre and the Dennery Child Development Centre.
