Already in its 9th year, the Yoplait Cancer Campaign has been a highlight of cancer awareness initiatives in St. Lucia through the joint efforts of Massy Stores (SLU) Ltd. and Yoplait. This year, the activities will take on a fresh approach in support of breast cancer with previous attractions like Men in Heels and more exciting activities in store.
Under the theme, “Together in the fight against breast cancer”, Massy Stores and Yoplait are hoping to exceed the EC$60,000 raised last year. Part of the drive will involve sensitizing the public on the far-reaching effects of the disease, various ways to provide support to persons who are impacted and the ways to ‘join in the fight against breast cancer’.
According to the Marketing Manager at Massy Stores, Sancha Raggie, customers are encouraged to get involved by participating in breast cancer awareness activities during the month, donate to the cause and pledge to live a more active and healthy life style.
“We encourage customers to participate in the ‘Save Lids to Save Lives’ campaign, whereby Massy Stores and Yoplait will donate ten cents for every 6 oz. or 5.3 oz. Yoplait cup sold between October 1 and November 13, 2016. Participate in the Massy Stores/Yoplait Walk for Cancer and donate to the cause at the cash register. Remember all funds raised from these campaigns will be donated to the National Community Foundation and Faces of Cancer,” Raggie said.
The walk is scheduled for Sunday, November 6. Registration remains at $15.00 per person and participants will walk from Massy Stores Mega to Pigeon Island.
Since 2008, the Massy Stores (formerly Consolidated Foods Ltd.) has raised EC$280,000, all of which has been donated to various cancer causes in St. Lucia.
