A TEAM from the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank held talks with the Allen Chastanet Government here yesterday.
CDB President Dr. William Warren Smiths led the delegation at a meeting held at the conference centre of the Ministry of Finance.
Dr. Smith met with senior government officials, including Prime Minister Chastanet, cabinet ministers and members of the public sector.
The premise of the President’s visit was for the reinforcement of the CDB’s commitment to Saint Lucia in offering assistance in creative ways which will assist the country to achieve its developmental goals.
The meeting presented an opportunity to evaluate CDB programmes with the Government of Saint Lucia and focused largely on the presentation of the government’s main objectives and priorities; and how best the CDB can support such priorities through its social and economic development programmes.
Saint Lucia is one of the original members of the CDB having joined in 1970. CDB funding in Saint Lucia has been used for social and economic infrastructure such as schools and health centres, building more disaster-resistant structures, community skills training and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
