PRASLIN Bay United emerged champions of the Mon Repos Promotional Football League on Sunday when they defeated Grass Street Sports Club 4 – 2 in a penalty shootout at the Wenn Playing Field after the scores were locked at 2 – 2 at the end of regulation time.
Grass Street took the lead in the 16th minute through No.15 Allister William and despite Praslin Bay United’s determination to get the equalizer that’s how the score line stayed up until the half time whistle.
On the resumption Praslin Bay United with their fighting spirit got the much deserved equalizer through substitute No. 18 Ted Peter’s right foot shot from close range in the 70th minute. Five minutes later PBU was awarded a penalty by Referee Gordon Wilson which No. 19 Evanus Emmanuel clinically dispatched to give his team a 2 – 1 lead in the 75th minute: But Grass Street Sports Club with their crowd support behind them proved their resilience when No. 14 Gelan Raymond got the equalizer in the 89th minute to send the game into a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout Praslin Bay United emerged winner with a 4 – 2 margin.
Praslin Bay United was presented with the Promotional League trophy, gold medals and $1500.00. Second place team – Grass Street Sports Club, earned a trophy and $1000.00, while third place Patience Youth Organization received $400.00. Most Valuable Player of Tournament was – Evanus Emmanuel of Praslin Bay United, Best Young Player -Fernando Stephen of Grass Street, Best Defender – Jamille Goodman of Grass Street, Best Goal Keeper – Lastus Camille of Grass Street, Most Goals – Evanus Emmanuel of Praslin Bay United.
