‘Nary a Mention’

The Editor:
Shame on Kenny, Lorne and the Tourist Board So I learned this past jazz weekend that the Jazz festival was celebrating its 25th year, quite a milestone. Our little festival that could, has become one of the must see events for world music aficionados. Kudos to us all. But how can a government, even one as shameless as this one purport to mark such an achievement with nary a mention of the founder of this festival.

Now I recognize of course that Allen Chastanet presents the greatest threat to the continuity of this government and there would be an inherent reluctance to afford this man any sort of recognition on the eve of a general election but REALLY, can we seriously purport to mark this auspicious occasion without at least saying thank you to Mr. Chastanet. For without him there would be no jazz festival, no boon for our hoteliers, taxi drivers and vendors in May, no 25th anniversary of the Jazz festival. But his name went unmentioned for the duration of the festival and I understand from my tourist board source that he was not even offered a ticket or a pass to one single event.

Disgraceful! Shame And while Kenny and Lorne are most assuredly basking in the glow of this milestone, it must give them both pause to realize that all that they are celebrating they owe to Allen Chastanet. Boy, it must stick in their craw! I for one can’t wait to see what other great contributions Mr Chastanet is proposing for St. Lucia when he gets to the helm of our country. Ring the bell Kenny, ring the bell.

  1. Would that also include mentioning the matter of leasing the tent to government for purposes of hosting the event?
