St. Lucia Athletics Association (SLAA) Treasurer Cornelius Breen spoke to THE VOICE ahead of the meet about his expectations: “ It looks pretty interesting for tomorrow as we have quite a few talents all set to perform on the big stage. In terms of quality we have seen a few records smashed so it augurs well for what is expected to be an intriguing day. For the SLAA the future looks bright for these young athletes as their number continues to increase we now need to find a way to capture those who that did not make this year’s qualifiers in the north and south of the island”.

He continued: “Tomorrow we expect a much improved atmosphere, so we are appealing to all and sundry and the families of the various athletes to come out in support. We have a few cycling events and cheer-leading in between to complement the events. 1st National Bank is looking forward to that aspect as we try to find ways and means to build on the foundation we already have as the championship continues to grow and continues to be a pinnacle of success it has been. National ladies 200 metres Julien Alfred is a product of this championship and she continues to excel, likewise high jumpers Levern Spencer, JeannelleScheper and Heptathlon MakebaAlcide”.
