IT began at 5:00 a.m. while most of the population were still in their beds. The women of West Indies cricket started their quest for world supremacy in the T20 format of the game with a thumping victory over the powerful Australians, derailing their bid for another title.
Stafanie Taylor’s team wrote their names into the history books by giving the Windies their first Women’s World T20 title. It was a crowning moment in West Indies Cricket, on the back foot for so long since the glory days on the 1980s.
The women’s victory was quickly followed by another masterful performance by Darren Sammy’s men who snatched an incredible victory over England thanks for their second World title.
It was a great day this past Sunday for West Indies cricket coming hard on the heels of the victory by the Under-19 team in their World 50 overs championship.
