Plan To Boost Music Export

In its ongoing pursuit of increasing exports, The Saint Lucia Trade Export Promotion Agency in partnership with the Ministry of Creative Industries have announced the launch of a consultancy to assess, and advance export of the local music industry.

Sound Diplomacy, a UK based music market development consulting company has been contracted to create an overall music industry development framework and music export strategy for Saint Lucia. Representatives from sound Diplomacy to hold consultations with relevant Saint Lucian music industry stakeholders, agencies and personnel.

Through this contract, the consultants will conduct a SWOT analysis of the Saint Lucia music industry, to determine its true economic impact and marketability in / for international markets. A major objective of this initiative is the development of a music export strategy that will guide TEPA’s work with the industry and its practitioners. It is also expected that the results of this intervention will strengthen the competencies of TEPA and the Ministry of Creative Industries in working with artiste and music industry practitioners.

Chief Executive Office of the Trade Export Promotion  Agency, Mrs. Jacqueline Emmanuel-Flood noted that this contract is phase one of a two pronged approach towards increasing music exports. The second phase of this project addresses artist development in preparation for international showcasing and networking. Flood emphasized “the findings and final output of this contract will provide TEPA with a strategic approach /framework to develop and promote the product of the music industry.”
