FOUR matches were played Saturday at the Marchand Grounds as teams continued their preparations for the Blackheart Production / St.Lucia Football Association Knockout Football Tournament.
In the final set of promotional warm up matches before the tournament’s big kick off on Saturday there were wins on the day for La Clery, Babonneau and Gros Islet and Dennery.
In the opening encounter La Clery had a 2 – 0 win over Central Castries with goals in each half from Tafari Charlemagne and Leroy Stephen.
Former Blackheart finalist Babonneau had a 1 – 0 win over 2015 Blackheart Play off champions Anse la Raye. The goal coming from a wonderfully struck free kick from Ricky Joseph.
One of the title favourites for this year’s tournament, former Blackheart Champions Gros Islet had a convincing 4 – 0 win over South Castries. Gros Islet was led to victory with two goals from Elijah Louis and one each from Troy Greenidge and AramisLorde.
In the feature match of the day Dennery came from behind to register a 2 – 1 win over home team Marchand. Travis Joseph had put Marchand ahead, but goals from Sylverius Vidal and a penalty from Donovan Sealy gave Dennery victory.
