St. Lucia Gets Taste Of Their Culture.
EXPRESSIONS of love, friendship and culture were the main themes last Monday evening when 16 Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors gave a 90-minute cultural presentation at the National Cultural Centre.
The delegation, comprised of college students from Taiwan, performed songs, dances and skits to give the NCC audience insights into Taiwanese culture and how uses such cultural traditions to foster deeper friendship with its global allies.
Dubbed “Energetic New Taiwan”, the students’ presentation was divided into twelve acts that focused on six main aspects of Taiwan: natural environment, lifestyles of health and sustainability (LOHAS), cultural heritage, cuisine, cultural creativity and warmth.
The visiting delegation left in Saint Lucia yesterday and was shortlisted from hundreds of students who apply each year to become a youth ambassador. Upon selection, delegations are dispatched for specified periods to the 22 nations where Taiwan has diplomatic ties.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the programme has over the past six years played a great role in emphasizing Taiwan’s role on the international stage as a provider of humanitarian aid, promoter of cultural exchanges and a standard bearer of Chinese culture.
Monday evening’s performance was also an interactive one that saw the visiting students encouraging the audience to participate in the fun.
