DIGICEL St. Lucia ushered in the new academic year on Monday with the commencement of its Back to School Outreach Programme and Unlimited FREE Bus rides.
As part of the annual drive Digicel delivered hundreds of school supplies, including back packs, notebooks and exercise books to various schools throughout the length and breadth point St. Lucia and also provided free transportation on all Digicel buses for students, teachers, parents and other passengers.
The Digicel Team commenced their journey delivering to some schools within the northern region at the Monchy Primary School, the Fond Assond Combined School, The Balata Primary School and the Dame Pearlette Primary School. Special Education institutions including the Dunnattor School and the Lady Gordon Opportunity Centre were also beneficiaries of the programme.
On Tuesday , many schools along the east coast were also recipients of more school supplies through the Digicel Back to School Outreach. As the team commenced at the Bexon Infant School, the principal Mrs. Martha John was beaming with gratitude. She expressed : “Today is only the second day of school and we have students who are not able to attend because they simply do not have the supplies they need to be at school. Digicel, your contribution today will undoubtedly go a very long way in assisting our students. Most times we have to buy supplies or seek donations in order to ensure every child gets the education they deserve, therefore your voluntary donation and consideration of the Bexon Infant School are much appreciated”.
Visits and donations continued to Aux Lyons Combined School, the Dennery Infant, Micoud Primary School and the Vieux Fort Special Education Centre.
Schools along the west coast including the Anse la Raye Primary, Canaries Primary, the Bouton Combined, the Fond St. Jacques Primary, the Soufriere Special Education Centre and the Piaye Combined School were all recipients of Back to School Supplies from Digicel on Wednesday.
