THE long anticipated opening of Splash Island Water Park St. Lucia took place earlier this month and so far the Caribbean’s newest attraction has lived up to expectations.
In just over week, the park its first welcomed more than 1,300 locals and visitors alike who are raving about this fun new addition to Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay Village.
Splash Island has already garnered over 100 rave reviews on Facebook and Tripadvisor from satisfied guests who can’t get enough. “Loads of fun,” as described by a guest of Splash Island’s sister company, Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa. “My son played here for four days. The equipment is new, safe and exciting. Fun, fun, fun!”
The park was conceptualized in March of 2015 by Bay Gardens Resorts Director, Julianna Ward-Destang, a Chartered Accountant turned theme park entrepreneur whose desire and vision to bring a novel, fun and safe attraction to her native land has completely transformed the atmosphere on St. Lucia’s most popular beach.
The Caribbean’s first floating, inflatable sports park features over a dozen attractions including monkey bars, the Ice Berg XXL, the Action Tower and climbing wall, the Cliff, a trampoline, volleyball court, hurdles, wiggle bridge and favourites such as the Spinner and the Double Rocker.
Splash Island is located near to Bay Gardens Beach Resort in front of the newly opened Seagrapes Beach Bar which features kid friendly snacks as well as local dishes created by Bay Gardens Beach Resort’s Gold Medal Winning Chef Peter Lawrence. Seagrapes Beach Bar features a relaxed, “barefoot on the beach” atmosphere with breathtaking views of Pigeon Island National Landmark.
So far more than 70% of park patrons have been St. Lucian residents. Among these local patrons have been dozens of underprivileged kids from the community for whom a few free one hour passes are provided each weekday. Splash Island’s sister company Bay Gardens Resorts which includes Bay Gardens Beach Resort, Bay Gardens Hotel and Bay Gardens Inn offers special Staycation packages starting at just $109 US ($294 EC) per night including breakfast for two and two free water park passes per room.
The water park is staffed by a team of certified lifeguards and administrative staff led by Managing Director, Ward-Destang. As reviewed by a recent park patron: “There were lifeguards on duty, keeping an eye out for the little kids and helping them climb back on to continue the fun. The team on shore was also very professional and friendly while taking the payments, and providing the equipment, making the entire experience an enjoyable one.”
Splash Island is open seven days a week (including holidays) from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. With special local rates starting at just EC $23 for an hour of fun, Splash Island Water Park St. Lucia offers incredible value for money on one of the Caribbean’s best beaches.
