JUSTUS, the leading youth vocal group in Saint Lucia is excited to share with the general public yet another celebration of mixed choral music.
This concert will be held at the Bougainvillea Conference Room at the Bay Gardens Hotel on Thursday August 13 at 7:00 p.m. This concert will form part of the choir’s annual fundraising ventures and the entrance fee is $20.00
This concert will bring to the stage 14 singers, aged from 20-27 years from communities throughout the island; allowing them to showcase their vocal ability and interesting harmonies paired with some eye-catching choral movement.
JUSTUS will be sharing the stage with the Evergreen Singers; also an initiative set up by the MUSICMAN Learning Centre and a mixture of older singers who will wow the crowd with their unique harmonies.
As is the norm with JUSTUS concerts, this show features a very wide-ranging choral repertoire under the direction of Mr. John Paul Bailey, current director of the MUSICMAN Learning Centre and Windward Piano Sales; and of Jason C. Joseph (a.k.a Bachelor), Ministry of Education Music Specialist, and Saint Lucia twice crowned Calypso Monarch.
Glen Lake, the choir’s Marketing Officer said: “We try to break barriers in music. A lot of persons think that choral music is just people standing up and singing songs; but there is a lot more to it. You have to think of costumes, and movements and the overall balance in the sound. We do all kinds of music from Gospel to Reggae, to African to Soca…One thing is for sure, JUSTUS truly does ‘shell dong’ the place when we start singing.”
