FOUR matches are slated for Saturday and an equal number for Sunday as the action continues in the St. Lucia Football Association Men’s Under – 18 tournament at a number of venues around the island.
The competition kicked off this past weekend with matches being played at two venues with the highlight of the opening round being a hat – trick by Mabouya Valley striker Sherwin Simon and Vieux Fort South’s defeating Choiseul 6 – 0.
In the Eastern Zone played at the Micoud Playing Field – Mabouya Valley defeated Desruisseaux 4 – 0. The half time score 2 – 0 with goals coming from Simon in the 37th and 41st minute of the first half. Simon scored another in the second half and Nick Mondesir scored the fourth.
In a Game 2 five yellow cards were issued by the referee, as a determined Micoud team playing at home and with crowd support behind them defeated neighbours Mon Repos 2 – 0. The scorers were CanaiiNervais and Nathan Allen.
On Sunday, in matches played at the Augier Playing Field in the Southern Zone, In Game 1 – Vieux-Fort South trounced Choiseul 6 – 0, while Soufriere got the better of Vieux-Fort North 1 – 0 in the second encounter.
