A COLLECTION of some of the finest Caribbean designers and producers, including “Designs by Nadia” of St Lucia, will be found at the 2015 edition of the Autumn Fair, which is taking place at the Birmingham NEC in the United Kingdom from September 6-9 under the umbrella brand Design Caribbean.

Produced and managed by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), Design Caribbean faciliated the award of grants to eleven designers to attend what is now regarded as the season’s number one gift and home trade event in the UK for international buyers.

Representing eight different Caribbean islands, each of the designers will bring their unique creative concepts to the Design Caribbean stand while showcasing handmade jewellery and home accessories, in addition to highlighting the diversity and depth of Caribbean design.

One of the participants will be Guyana-born St. Lucia-based Nadia Jabour, the force behind ‘Designs by Nadia’, original designs created from indigenous seeds, wood, sea glass, sea stones and any natural material. It has created a new market combining precious metals with pieces of nature that gives her collections a unique touch.

Most of Nadia’s raw material come from Guyana and the Caribbean islands. The designer pointed out that Guyana has an “unlimited amount of natural resources that need to be used in a variety of ways and marketed to the world.”

Other countries to be represented at the UK fair are Barbados, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and St Kitts and Nevis.
