THE Pinehill Funwalk which has grown since 1999 to become the single largest participatory sporting event in St. Lucia is about to celebrate its 16th year running with hopes of beating its current record of 5,500 registered participants last year.

The walk is aimed at all St. Lucians who share the desire to commit to living active and healthy lifestyles regardless of age, size, ability or fitness level.

Pinehill Brand Manager, Shari Popo indicated that there really is no excuse to not take part as the variety of participants over the years have proved that it can be done by anybody.

Popo said: “Over the years, we have witnessed the differently-abled – the blind, the wheelchair bound , the avid athlete, the regular walker, the aspiring walker, the student, the grandparent, the toddler – come out to simply and boldly join the movement”.

She added that the numbers speak for themselves indicating that the movement is surely one to be a part of:

“Truly, the yearly increase in numbers, is evident that PinehillFunwalk has become a Movement, not simply a funwalk but has drawn and attracted a loyal movement of Pinehillfunwalkers all walking for health, fitness and fun! Hence, the theme for PinehillFunwalk 2015 is ‘Join the Movement’ ”.
