Football Feast At VF This Weekend

THE battle lines are drawn and the finalists have been decided following semi final matches in the St. Lucia football Association’s Inter-Districts Under – 15 and Royal Club Under – 23 tournaments that were played on Sunday at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

Under – 15 action saw Vieux Fort North, defeating Dennery 4-0 with an own goal from Valintino Henry in the 5th minute and a netter fromBryantPolius in the 17th minute.

The second half saw two more goals for VFN, Zolo Clark in the 47th minute and Toyan William in the 65 minute to secure a final berth.

In Game 2 featured Soufriere marched Micoud, 5-1. The first half ended 1 – 0 in favour of Micoud with a goal from CaniiNervais in the 38th minute. On the resumption Soufriere equalized in the 46th minute with a goal from Eli Duval. Following the equalizer the boys from the western town stepped up pressure a few notches and were rewarded with four more goals, two from Requeline Sylvester in the 69th and 86th minutes and one each from the boots of Deuynil Alexander in the 83rd minutes and William Cenac in the 93rd minute.

In the Royal Club Under – 23 semi finals, Game 1, Canaries led 1-0 with a goal from David Henry in the 30th minute over Gros Islet.

In the second half, Gros Islet soonm equalizes through Dwayne Sonson in the 47th minute, but Canaries nosed ahead in the 59th minute when a Kingsley Henry strike in the 59th minute of play eluded the Gros Islet custodian. The boys from the north with a no die attitude found the much deserved equalizer from AramisLorde in the 68th minute to send the encounter straight to a penalty shoot out with Gros Islet winning 5-4 at the end.

In Game 2, a hat trick from Noah Nicholas who scored in the 28th, 58th and 61st minutes secured Vieux Fort South a final berth. At the end of the first half Vieux Fort South led 1 – 0. On the resumption Anse la Raye equalized in the 52nd minute with a goal from Colson Fredrick. Anse la Raye’s second goal came from Erickson Reid in the 91st minute.

The finals in both competitions will take place this coming weekend.
