ST. LUCIA Under – 15 cricket team will be bolstered by the return of two of its top players for the upcoming Windward Islands sponsored WINLOT tournament that will be played here from tomorrow at the Gros Islet Playing Field and Mindoo Phillip Park.

St. Lucia will start their defence of their title tomorrow at the Gros Playing Field against the Commonwealth of Dominica, while St.Vincent and the Grenadines play Grenada at the Mindoo Phillip Park from 10. 00 a.m.

The hosts will be in action again on Thursday when they come up against St.Vincent and the Grenadines at the GIPF and Dominica plays Grenada at the MPP.

At the official presentation of the team, Head Coach Alton Crafton said, KimaniMelius (Captain), and Simeon Gerson, will lead the St. Lucia’s charge for defence of the title they won last year, but expects great things from the entire team in the round robin tournament.

He continued: “St. Lucia’s strength lies within the batting department as to date a number of players have scored centuries. KimaniMelius has the highest score by any St. Lucian batsman of 275, along with two hundreds during the trials. Chad Cepal has had a very good hundred in one of the games, all rounder Lee Solomon with 100, while Dominique Auguste, Stavone Gabriel, JohnathanKhodra and Keegan Arnold all have been consistent throughout with the bat”.

Crafton added: “The bowling department will be led by left arm spinner Simeon Gerson, who will have along side him Keegan Arnold, and Hanif Antoine who bowls off spin and who gets the ball to go both ways with his thumb. Shelton St. Rose is the best young fast bowler to emerge on the scene in the last five years of the tournament and one expects him to go far, He and all rounder Lee Solomon will take charge of the fast bowling department”.
