Spencer Clears 1.92m

ST. LUCIA’S 12 time “Sportswoman” of the year and current holder of this title, LevernDonaline Spencer, jump started her 2015 season this past weekend with a gold medal winning performance.

Competing at the Georgia Relays in Athens, Georgia, the prolific Spencer who had decided to sit out this year’s indoor season to focus on the heavy and important work schedule for the 2015 outdoor season, cleared the bar at 1.92m to win the event, a result which has her in joint 2nd place on the IAAF world listing for the 2015 outdoor season so far.

Coming in a distant second with a clearance of 1.74m, was a former Georgia Bulldog athlete, Saniel Atkinson- Greer who represented Jamaica at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland American AnisiaStarege placed 3rd with 1.68m.

Spencer, the CARICOM record holder did not have the best of preparations coming into her first meet for the year, due to a niggling leg injury and a very unkind winter season, but her performance in her very first competition for the year is inspiration for a very busy outdoor season.
