THE Rotary Club of Gros Islet has once again reached out to the less fortunate and under privileged by donating hampers to some of the nursing homes throughout the island. Rotarian Maria Thom led a team of four members to visit and spread good cheer over the holiday season.
The Rotary Club of Gros Islet is part of Rotary International, a charitable organization which boosts over 1 million members worldwide. It was formed by an attorney, Paul Harris on February 23, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. There are three clubs in Saint Lucia: Rotary Club of Saint Lucia, Rotary Club of Saint Lucia South and the Rotary Club of Gros Islet.
The club raises funds throughout the year, and had its main fundraiser event, the annual golf tournament in November last year. The club is planning other fundraisers including its annual Charter Night which will be later this month.
