PRIME Minister Allen Chastanet has announced his government’s support for a one hundred percent waiver of water bills from the Water and Sewerage Company WASCO on accounts prior to February 28th 2018.
The pronouncement came on Monday during his feature address at the launching ceremony of the first phase of the Dennery North Water Supply project. The massive undertaking was jointly funded by the government of St Lucia and its Mexican counterpart to the tune of $US6.6M for the completion of phase one.
Residents of Dennery North who did not have access to quality water for several years have begun to benefit from the upgrades in the supply, from the Tomazo plant.
During his presentation Prime Minister Honourable Allen Chastanet informed that while all Dennery North residents enjoyed a zero balance on their accounts which were wiped clean during the amnesty period, billing will resume from March 1st 2018.
“Our government in its own little way wants to advise that the board of WASCO has agreed that it’s going to waive all the debts they were owed up until February 28th of 2018, but is hoping that now that you have a good quality of water, collecting the bills in the future will not be a difficult process”.
It is important to note that residents of the area who had been disconnected must pay the reconnection fee in order to regularize their accounts.
Phase two of the project will begin in due course.
After 3 years of telling WASCO the meter is malfunctioning, they finally exchange it. But a month later they tell me, NO PROBLEM WITH IT! Did they ask me to come witness the tests or tell me the border lines to pass or fail? They said it passed! Why yes it passed. If not, they owe me money for incorrect readings! Example, In three months water usage went from 4,000 gallons to 7,000 with nothing changing in my daily actives! Strange? But each time after I asked about the quantity the bill went back to 4,000 / month. But they realize here in Vieux Fort, I worked in / around public drinking water in the US for 44 years before retiring here just to find out that the water problem has not changed since 1980 when I lived here the first time! Come on WASCO, this is 2018 not 1980. People without water for two weeks because you cannot get a broken pipe fixed? Really?
I say even if his shoulder is healthy next week he still starts on dl and then sent on full rehab assignment. So if he’s put through waivers and someone claims him- does he have to be on their 25 man roster and put on big league team ? If so, I say send him through waivers. Every team looking to add a player is looking for a contributor right now and herarra hasn’t played or been healthy in 3 years. So if that happens and he clears waivers- can reds keep him in Louisville all year ? Then if they want him down in 2019- will he have to go through waivers again or once clears first time- does that give reds more options ?
