NWU Refers SJC Negotiating Dispute To Labour Commissioner

PRESS RELEASE – THE management of St. James’s Club Morgan Bay and the National Workers Union (NWU) have agreed to refer their negotiating dispute to the Labour Commissioner.

The NWU has requested $3 per hour increase in Years One, Two and Three while the company has counter-offered $1 per hour to cover the three-year duration.

The NWU is of the firm opinion that its aim is to standardize fringe benefits in the unionized hotel plants and establish a wage structure that would mirror the contribution that hotel workers are making towards the overall development of the tourism sector.

It is expected that a meeting at conciliatory level will be scheduled soon as both parties are eager to resolve this matter.
