Saint Lucia records 42 new cases of COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE — Today Monday August 23, 2021, the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs confirms 42 new cases of COVID-19. These cases are from a total of 181 samples processed at the Ezra Long Laboratory on Sunday August 22, 2021. These cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 7274.

The Ministry of Health also received confirmation of 44 individuals who have recovered from COVID19. This brings the total number of active cases currently on record in country to 1428. Four of these active cases are in critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

A total of 34, 621 first doses and 27, 236 second doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date. Vaccination continues tomorrow Tuesday August 24, 2021 at the Beanfield Secondary School in Vieux-Fort, the Gros-Islet Human Resource Center and the People’s Discount Drugstore at Victoria Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals can also make an appointment to get vaccinated at any of the community wellness centers.
