THE Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology in collaboration with the National Water and Sewerage Commission continues to provide information to residents in different communities island wide on Biosafety and Biodiversity which can affect their lifestyle.
Presentations were recently made to residents of Choiseul on Wednesday and Dennery North on Thursday on Biosafety re Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) which is related to genes which are isolated from cells and transferred to other cells to modified species re medicines, vaccines, agriculture and food.
The Ministry continues to inform residents and encourage their interest in the progress to develop the framework to guide the country in Biosafety management with the importation of genetically modified organisms, their products and living modified organisms (LMO).
The community meetings are organized by the National Water and Sewerage Commission to also educate residents on the work of the Commission and their responsibility. Meetings will continue the following week in other communitiesislandwide.
