THE Soufriere Regional Development (SRDF) is continuing its mandate to promote development in the community of Soufriere by facilitating various workshops.
The most recent workshop focused on entrepreneurship through the concepts of business startup, marketing strategies, research and successful business guidelines and was held on Wednesday April 26 at the Cool Conference Room.
“The purpose of the workshop was to enlighten individuals on business startup essentials and management,” said Johnson Simon, Youth Development Officer.
He added that the workshop was also used as a stepping-stone for unemployed people to steward their own success.
Forty people participated in the workshop, including 15 students from the Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School.
The workshop was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) with Leander Calixte Jn. Baptiste and Ruthanne Carasco Philip facilitating the symposium.
Said Philip: “The initiative was a good one, the outcome as well, as the feedback was exceptional and the way forward is to continue helping people who are showing interest in the business arena.”
She urged people with business ideas or already in business to visit the SBDC for support.
According to Johnson Simon, the organization has been inundated with requests for a repeat session of the workshop and is currently preparing to have the James Belgrave Micro Enterprise Development Fund Inc. (BELfund) undertake a training session on business financing.
The organization will hold workshops on Project Management and Public Speaking over the coming months.
