Williams Dominate KIA Tennis

Siblings Carry off Ten Awards.

THE 6th KIA Independence Tennis Tournament ended on Saturday at the National Tennis Centre with the prize giving ceremony and awards presented to lead players in the various age categories for their outstanding performances.

The afternoon belonged to the 2016 Junior Female Tennis Players of the Year, Meggan and Maxx Williams, with the brother-sister duo capturing a combined 10 awards. Their cousin, Dara Sidoine, was not far behind with her career best performance, picking four awards. Aiden Bousquet continued his good form, taking home five awards.

In the Girls’ 12s final, JorjaMederick defeated Alannah Bousquet while in the Boys’ 12s final, Orlando Augustin defeated Aiden Bousquet.

In the Girls’ 14s, NadjemaMorille defeated Aviona Edmund while in the Boys’ 14s, Maxx William defeated Aiden Bousquet.

In the Girls’ 18s final, Meggan William defeated Dara Sidoine, while Aiden Bousquet defeated Maxx William in the Boys’ 18s.

Meggan William defeated Dara Sidoine in the Women’s Open final while Vernon Lewis defeated SirseanArlain in the Men’s Open final.

In the Senior 45+ final, Ron Blanchard defeated Jonathan Gladding.

In the doubles category, JorjaMederick and Alysa Elliot defeated Iyana Paul and Latoya Murray in the Girls’ 12s final while Saige Charlemagne and Arden Rosemond defeated Orlando Augustin and Jonas Sylvester in the Boys’ 12s doubles final.

Nadjema Morille and Sarah Joseph beat Alannah Bousquet and Iyana Paul in the Girls’ 14s final while Maxx Williams and Aiden Bousquet defeated Jordan Hunte and Joey Angeloni in the Boys’ 14s doubles final.

Meggan Williams and Dara Sidoine defeated Netanya Faissal and NavitIssac in the Girls’ 18s doubles finalist while Maxx William and Aiden Bousquet defeated Eshem Edward and Raphael in the Boy’s doubles final.

Meggan Williams and Dara Sidoine defeated Scyla Murray and Iesha Emile in the Women’s doubles final while SirseanArlain and Marion Gittens defeated Glenton Evans and Clint Mitchel in the Men’s doubles final.

In the Mixed Open Doubles final, Meggan Williams and Maxx Williams defeated Scyla Murray and Eshem Edwards.

The KIA Ace Award went to Keric Duval, who entered the tournament with an injury and won favour with the officials as he exemplified the ideals of sportsmanship on the court with ethical behaviour, fair play, and integrity. Duval also showed commitment throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Northwest Limited’s General Manager, Larry Bain, reiterated the company’s continued support for the tournament. He also congratulated the participants for a great outing on court.

“Northwest cannot be more pleased with the tremendous talent growing year after year,” Bain said. “With the results I have seen, we will continue our sponsorship in 2018.”
