Why do we always look forward to dwelling in the house of our enemies?

Many things baffles me, but none like our love for America.

With  the availability of information and ‘data’ (as we like to call it these days) everybody with a pinch of understanding and education knows the history of the United States of America.

We are quite aware of the many assassinations the US is responsible for everywhere, especially on the African Continent and the use of the CIA and now ICE as their special forces used to destabilize so-many of its prominent leaders.

We know of their past and present policies towards emigrants.

We know of the many wars they have ignited, from Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan, and now against Iran and so-many other counties.

We know of their policies, their discrimination concepts, the use of guns and their bombs and even the use of nuclear weapons, as in the case of Japan in the Second World  War.

We know how they have kept an embargo on Cuba for more than sixty years and are still squeezing their cahoonas; we know of the Venezuela story, the way they eliminated the original Indian tribes of America.

We know every bit of their ideology and concepts, we know of their ties to Israel and how they help in the plundering of Palestine, we know about the rich supporters and the way they discriminate against all minorities and their oppressive nature etc , etc.

Yet despite knowing that full record, that knowledge and understanding, we still want to send our children to be educated there, we choose America as our first choice of holidaying, our governments offer them the best concessions as it relates to tourism, we welcome them, we continue to adore them and most of all, we follow their religious practices and even claim their President to be God on Earth at this point in time.

Now we are seeking reparations as it relates to slavery and we get no response or support, no acceptance of our claims, even though they are aware that this was and is the gravest crime and injustice against humanity.

We know of their Jim Crow legacy, the many black horror stories, but despite  all that, we as a people are still in love with America.

Is this brainwash, is this modern day insanity? Is this why we are too scared to rebel? Is it all about the money?

Really, I am still trying to comprehend the reason that we choose to lie in bed with them.

Some parents will take loans, work their bodies to the bone, do any sacrifice to send their children to get schooled there and, as they say, to live the American Dream in the land of milk and honey.

Our young people will spend their whole lives cleaning and doing menial labour, just to be there.

Cuba has offered us thousands of scholarships that I never heard about thereafter from those who benefitted.  America is not doing the same, but Cuba has also assisted us in health care. They have assisted black liberation in so many African countries. They have volunteered to be friends to all in need.

Yet, I am yet to see or hear, especially Caribbean people, demonstrating their disgust for how America treats Cuba and some of the other Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as their attitude towards the Caribbean, especially Haiti.

I often wonder what poison we drank, how and why we remain so vigorously  sympathetic towards the United States and it’s president.

Lord, please help me understand, because I have difficulty in accepting America as my friend and as a trusted country.

What has happened to our fighting spirit? What happened to all our freedom fighters who blazed the trail against such attitudes and behavioural practices?

Will we ever have the courage to say ‘enough is enough’, or is the US dollar  our idol for life?

Money now surpasses God and mankind and we would rather die than to change what is going on, so we do not mind being plunged into a third world war, to see the planet destroyed, just to keep America as our sacred land.

Lord help us all!

We send our children to fight their wars, we vote for them to keep us enslaved, we dress in their clothing and will forever hang their flags if we have to.

We are in love with the greatest destroyers of humanity.

Imagine that!
