The St. Lucia Athletics Association is excited to announce that Olympic champion Julien Alfred will represent Saint Lucia in the women’s 100m at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, from September 11 to 13.
This championship unites the world’s leading athletes for three evenings of elite competition, showcasing the best in athletics.
Today (Saturday), Julien is slated to compete in both the women’s 100m semifinals and finals. As a standout sprinter and national icon, Alfred’s participation underscores the event’s focus on top-tier global talent.
This high-stakes championship marks the culmination of the athletics season, featuring elite athletes from various disciplines, with Alfred symbolizing both her nation and the future of sprinting excellence.
Following the successful hosting of the World Championships in 2023, Budapest is set to welcome the world’s best athletics stars for the first-ever World Athletics Ultimate Championship. The three-day event will take place at the Gyula Zsivotzky National Athletics Centre, starting with the mixed 4x100m relay on Friday and concluding with the women’s 200m final on Sunday night.
Throughout the event, fans will witness many of the greatest track & field athletes, including the USA’s Noah Lyles and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis, Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, and of course, Saint Lucia’s own Julien Alfred, all vying for glory and the title of Ultimate Champion.
