Saint Lucia’s major health-care facility is poised to benefit from a comprehensive industrial relations package following the successful dialogue between the National Workers Union (NWU) and Millennium Heights Medical Complex (MHMC).
This engagement, facilitated by the Department of Labour, Co-operatives and Consumer Affairs, culminated in a new workplace agreement.
On August 12, the two parties formally signed the agreement, concluding a lengthy yet amicable discussion process focused on addressing workplace concerns and reaching mutually acceptable solutions.
Labour Officer Sabrina Nicholas emphasized the significance of this collaboration in resolving workplace issues.
“This agreement demonstrates what can be achieved when both employers and workers are willing to meet, listen to one another, and work towards practical solutions. The Department of Labour remains committed to fostering constructive dialogue that promotes fairness, understanding, and harmonious industrial relations,” Nicholas stated.
Representatives from both the NWU and MHMC expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, describing the agreement as a vital step in strengthening their relationship. The signing also reflects a shared commitment to maintaining open communication and a positive working relationship moving forward.
