SLFA League Competition Delivers Thrilling Results

On Saturday, April 4, the SLFA Inc. Eastern Zone Boys Under 20 competition showcased some exciting matches at the Micoud Playing Field.

Mabouya Valley emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Dennery. Detroy Deterville opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, followed by a goal from Ethan Oculi in the 40th minute. Bourne Innocent found the net for Dennery in the 88th minute, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

In another encounter, Mon Repos triumphed over Desruisseaux with an impressive 5-2 scoreline. Liam Wilson scored the first goal in the 16th minute, followed by contributions from Donavan Ferdinand (41st), Dandre Jonas (74th), Thai Wilson (79th), and Jeaneve Jeffery in the 89th minute. For Desruisseaux, Kimmanus St. Juste scored in the 60th minute, and Talan Gaston added another in the 1st minute of added time.

The SLFA Inc. Girls Under 13 competition also saw action on Saturday, with Desruisseaux defeating Vieux Fort South 3-1 at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

Falonn Antoine scored twice for Desruisseaux in the 29th and 49th minutes, along with a goal from Arielle Samuel in the 68th minute. Nya Joseph found the net for Vieux Fort South in the 67th minute.

Additionally, the penultimate preliminary round of matches in the SLFA Inc. Primary Schools Boys Under 12 District League competition concluded on Saturday. At the Grande Riviere Playing Field in Gros Islet, Marchand fought hard to secure a 1-1 draw against Babonneau, earning a spot in the next stage of the competition. Jamil Edward converted a penalty for Marchand in the 2nd minute, and Leshawn Gordon equalized for Babonneau in the 31st minute.

In another match, Canaries maintained their hopes with a 3-1 victory over Anse La Raye, scoring through Kem Detervile (2nd), Kolosh Simon (3rd), and Neilan Antoine (32nd minute). Shervin Charles scored a consolation goal for Anse La Raye in the 53rd minute.

At the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Micoud secured their future in the competition with a 3-1 win over Dennery, thanks to a brace from Gervi Altidore in the 20th and 21st minutes, and another goal from Keylan Joseph in the 37th minute.

Desruisseaux also advanced to the next round, defeating Laborie 4-2, with goals from Daniel Charles (48th and 57th minutes), Shane James (12th), and Jason James (60th). Theon Williams and Kimalea Etienne scored for Laborie in the 39th and 59th minutes, respectively.

These thrilling matches demonstrate the continuing development and competitiveness of youth football in the region.
