Saint Lucia Announces Order of Saint Lucia Awards for 47th Independence Anniversary

In celebration of the 47th Independence Anniversary in 2026, Saint Lucia is set to honor outstanding citizens through the prestigious Order of Saint Lucia awards.

These awards will recognize individuals for their distinguished service, with notable recipients such as Dr. Stephen David Rupert McNamara and Mr. Earl Stephen Huntley.

The awards celebrate excellence across various fields, including sports, medicine, culture, and public service. They aim to acknowledge individuals who have made exceptional contributions, showcasing leadership, innovation, and a deep impact on the community.

This initiative continues the tradition of recognizing those who contribute to the country’s progress and development.

The award ceremony will coincide with the Independence celebrations, highlighting key figures who embody the values and aspirations of Saint Lucia.

Nominations are currently open for exceptional Saint Lucians who have made lasting impacts in their respective fields.

2026 Independence Award Honorees:
On Independence Day, His Excellency, Deputy to the Governor General, bestowed the following honors:

The Saint Lucia Cross

– Dr. Stephen David Rupert McNamara (For distinguished service in Sports Administration, Financial Services, Hospitality Industry, and Law)
– Mr. Earl Stephen Huntley (For distinguished service in Diplomacy, Public Service, Media Communications, and Sports)

The Saint Lucia Medal of Honour (Gold)

– Mr. Hilary La Force (For eminent service in Culture, Agriculture, Broadcasting, and Linguistics (St. Lucian Kwéyol))
– Mr. Michael Gaspard (For eminent service in Education, Broadcasting, and Linguistics (St. Lucian Kwéyol))
– Dr. Christopher Anthony Beaubrun (For eminent service in Medicine, Healthcare Development, Public Service, and Community Welfare)

The celebrations, themed “Douvan Ansanm: Nourishing Our People, Strengthening Our Nation,” will feature a national rally in Micoud on February 22, 2026.
